Dagmar Woebken promoted to Associate Professor

Dagmar Woebken has been promoted to Associate Professor at the University of Vienna. Dagmar joined DOME as a Group Leader in 2012. She has been an Assistant Professor at our Centre since 2018. Before coming to the University of Vienna, she was a post-doctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen (Germany) and at Stanford University (USA).

Dagmar Woebken’s research group aims to elucidate active microbial participants in key soil processes and the genomic and physiological features that allow their success in the challenging soil habitat. In 2014 she received an ERC Starting Grant for her project entitled “Revealing the function of dormant soil microorganisms and the cues for their awakening”. Dagmar is a member of the Board of Directors of the Young Academy of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Austrian Ambassador for the International Society for Microbial Ecology (ISME).
