I am a senior PhD student fascinated by the metabolic processes of sulphur in both the eukaryotic hosts and their bacterial symbionts. In our symbiotic systems, simplicity meets diversity. Thanks to the high diversity of symbiont and host species but also strictly conserved metabolic pathways, I can investigate the evolutionary journeys of main sulphur oxidising genes and their role in symbiotic associations. Furthermore, I compare the adaptations of various lucinid hosts to symbiotic lifestyle and try to answer the question of how it influences the intracellular symbiotic niche of their bacteria.
